Children's Tips For Writing a Novel - Let Your Kids Write a Book!

Home > Writing Activities > Write a Book

My son Luke was wanting something new to read.  We couldn't get to the store or library to obtain the "silly" type of book he likes so he decided to write his own.  To our amazement, he wrote what turned out to be nearly a full-length 8-12 yr-old kids book of over 50 pages in a few short weeks!  It needed a bit of cleaning up, but it was probably more total writing than many 12-yr old kids get in several years!  I am going to help him get this formatted and will post chapters here as they are ready.  Also, we know a family that binds books and we hope to have this work bound in soft cover.  Luke has plans for another book in the near future.  If your kids are willing to write a book, however short or in need of editing, you should encourage them to do so. The best tips for your kids writing a novel: Just get them to write on whatever interests or appeals to them, using some parental judgment of course!
