Ongoing Spelling Lists to Insure Correct Spelling Of Words
Home > Spelling Activities > Ongoing Spelling Lists In addition to the regular spelling lists your child works on, I think it is a good idea to create an ongoing spelling list of words your child spells incorrectly in other subjects or activities. For example, if the child is writing a science paper and misspells some common word like "does", add it to the list. Keep the list tacked up to the refrigerator or in some other central area, and never hesitate to add words if you see your child misspells them. Then, when you have about 20 words on the list, have the child study the list and perhaps rewrite the words 3 times each. Then test the child on the list. If you feel the child has learned a word sufficiently, cross it off the list. Then, add more words and test again when you get about 20 on the list. This technique will get your child to concentrate more on correct spelling and greatly help to insure the correct spelling of words.
