Utilizing Filtered Movies For History Education

Home > History Activities > Utilizing Filtered Movies

There are some movies that are closely based on historical records.  Examples would be the war movies Glory, a movie about the Civil War, and Band of Brothers (World War II).  Unfortunately, the language and/or extreme violence of many historical movies make these unsuitable for kids.  Our solution to this is to use a DVD filter called ClearPlay .  This filters out language and/or scenes if they are inappropriate for children.  We have found that if a movie is well done and historically accurate, it can be a great supplement to education in history.
